Editorial policy
Pages are drafted with AI assistance, checked claim by claim against their sources, and published as reviewed only after Ryan Smith, DDS signs off.
How a page is made
- Draft. An AI writing assistant drafts the page from published sources: clinical guidelines, FDA records, and medical sites such as the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and MedlinePlus.
- Fact-check. A separate AI pass checks every claim, number and FDA status against its source.
- Rules check. An automated check blocks any page that says a store-bought mouthpiece treats sleep apnea, calls a cleared device “FDA-approved”, puts a paid link inside the sleep apnea box or on a children’s page, or has more than three paid links.
- Review. Dr. Smith reviews the page and adds what he knows from practice. Only then does it show “Reviewed by a dentist” and a date. Until then it says the review is pending.
What AI doesn’t do
- It doesn’t write reviews, testimonials or first-hand testing notes. Those come only from people who used the product.
- It doesn’t decide picks or evidence badges. Dr. Smith confirms both.
Keeping pages current
Product prices and details are rechecked monthly, FDA records and new research quarterly, and every page is re-reviewed at least once a year. The “updated” date changes only when the content changes, never just to look fresh.
